People give high-fives to encourage, support, and congratulate others in their life journeys. Samaritas has been giving high-fives to people in need for almost 90 years as we serve people as an expression of the love of Christ. Samaritas is now the 6th largest non-profit organization in Michigan, which itself has been called the High-Five State due to the shape of our two peninsulas. Those who came before us left an amazing legacy of giving high-fives for us to steward. Now, we are called upon to continue this blessing for generations to come.
Thank you so much to our leaders who are participating in Samaritas Sundays. We appreciate your time and talents! If you would like to support our congregational outreach with a gift of $5, $50, or $500, that will go a long way to continue our impact as we give high-fives to people in need. Or if you would like to be a speaker at your congregation, please contact Pastor Beth Birkholz, Director Congregational Engagement EBirk@samaritas.org or (313) 400-3011.
Would you like us to come and speak to your congregation? If so, please fill out the form below.

Showing compassion and mercy to others was demonstrated by the Good Samaritan in Jesus's parable, and it is our similar call to be there for people in need even when others aren't. Samaritas is driven by this understanding as well as our mission to serve people as an expression of the love of Christ. One of our team members can teach you and your small group, congregation, or group of congregations about the overview of services we offer and how people can partner with us in serving fellow children of God.
11,000 children are currently in Michigan's foster care system. Many are separated from their siblings, seeing them at most during special visitation times. We strive to give some of these kids an opportunity simply to be kids again - brothers and sisters enjoying a week at camp - family and friends who can rejoice in the beauty of God's creation and find stability in their lives. Learn how you can work with us to help children be children while discovering that there is a God who loves them with no strings attached.
Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding are pillars of an abundant life. That is why the people of Samaritas strive to provide educational assistance to youth in the foster care system. We believe it helps them experience a better life as one of the greatest antidotes to poverty. Learn how you can join with us in helping foster care youth beat insurmountable odds through the power of education.
People of faith have transformed this world for the better not just by responding to crises, but also by getting ahead of those challenges and solving them at their roots. Samaritas has more than 20 years’ experience providing family preservation services. Together we can reduce the number of children exposed to the trauma of being removed from their families in the first place. We’ll continue to do this by focusing on programs that help prevent a child from being removed from their family and developing that family’s parenting skills and resources. Learn more about how you can help solve a problem before it even begins.
Welcoming children is important to Jesus, and it is important to those who follow Jesus. Samaritas is the largest private foster care agency in Michigan, helping 1,500 children a year. One of our expert speakers can teach you and your small group, congregation, or group of congregations how to offer children safe, secure, and loving homes.
Honoring our elders can be a challenging process, especially considering the many factors involved: level of care, social life, comfort, dining, and health and memory issues related to aging. Don’t struggle through the process. Invite a Samaritas expert to help you and your small group, congregation, or group of congregations navigate this important yet tricky conversation.
We are all spiritual pilgrims in this world, but we also have family, friends, or ancestors who fled war, persecution, and oppression. As the largest refugee resettlement agency in Michigan, Samaritas has resettled thousands of people from dozens of countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Central and South America. This makes us uniquely positioned to teach you and your small group, congregation, or group of congregations how to welcome people who find themselves strangers in this land.
Sadly, the story of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus fleeing as refugees isn't unique. Today, tens of millions of people, mostly families, are escaping religious and political persecution. Samaritas is the largest refugee resettlement agency in Michigan, because we believe that all people are children of God who should experience a life of peace and prosperity. Learn more about how you can help us rescue families, even when the light of hope seems so dim for them.
