Looking to try something you have never done before and not have to travel far from home? We found some fun, affordable events that everyone in the family will enjoy!
1. Learn Public Speaking with Toastmasters! If you are looking to gain confidence in your speaking and presentation skills, the Toastmasters are here to help! You will work with professionals to build confidence, gain networking experience and strengthen leadership skills all while in a friendly environment. This event will begin on Monday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Westland.
2. Samaritas Senior Living's Summer Garden Party. This event takes place on Friday, July 14 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Enjoy the ambience of Samaritas Senior Living as you tap your feet and sing along to the Paul Sikorski Quartet. Cocktails and Appetizers will be served. RSVP to Gloria at 248-385-0463.
3. Cranbrook Friends and Garden Walk. Discover five beautiful gardens in the Birmingham/ Bloomfield Hills area. The whimsical estate is filled with wildflowers and forest valleys. To attend, visitors are encouraged to register online, click here to register. All proceeds from the fundraiser supports the preservation of Cranbrook House & Gardens.
4. Butterfly Gardening in Michigan. Hoping to attract more butterflies to your garden this summer? The Master Gardener Society of Oakland County is here to help! For their monthly meeting, Betty Seagul will be giving a presentation on how to have a successful butterfly garden. The event will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on August 8 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and dinner can be purchased for an additional $3.
5. 2017 Frank Lloyd Wright Affleck House Tour. Tour the first Frank Lloyd Wright designed home in the Detroit Area. The home was built in attempt to meet the needs to low cost housing for the average American. *Due to narrow walk-ways and unpaved terrain, this tour is not wheelchair accessible. Multiple dates are available.
