BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – Samaritas Senior Living Bloomfield Hills kicked-off the season with a German-themed Oktoberfest party at its facility in October. Despite the rain and cold, the festival continued indoors to the delight of residents like Helga Ritter.
“I thought the Oktoberfest celebration was really nice. I always admire how the activities team thinks of these things. It was very well done with so many ideas. It was nice to get to see and chat with my friends for a bit,” said Ritter. “The Oktoberfest celebrations we have here always lift my spirits and make me happy. I love the German people wearing the lederhosen with the cut out you can put your face in for pictures!”
She continued, “I have been to Oktoberfest in Germany five times. I am from Germany and I think Munich is a beautiful city, one of my favorites. It’s a circus during Oktoberfest, so busy, but a lot of fun. It amazes me how the waitresses have 5 steins on each arm carrying 10 steins of beer total. Everyone is enjoying beer, sitting around visiting, and singing along to the music.
I love living at Samaritas. I get to have all my things that I like in my apartment and design it the way that I like. I love people and getting to spend time with everyone here, but it is nice I get to have my own private space I can enjoy as well. The residents are all very friendly and the staff is so nice.”
“A few years ago, before I moved my house flooded, it forced me to move out,” said Ritter. “I decided to come here and I think it was meant to happen. I am happy it happened now because I get to be here in a very nice place. It’s elegant. I enjoy living here, it couldn’t be nicer.”
