Serving God by Serving Others

Written by Chaplain Susan Hand -

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” Hebrews 6:10

God has asked us to take care of each other especially the poor among us. Yes, it is true that God cares for all people but God is preferential towards the poor. The poor are those who are faced with a need that they cannot meet by themselves. One of our purposes in life is to use what God gives us to improve the lives of others. When we all prosper, it strengthens all of God’s people. Truly, we serve God when we serve one another. God asks that we look out and care for one another as an extension of Him. We are blessed with so much abundance in this country and so we are asked to spread blessings around to others. Here at Samaritas, we have many opportunities to help our community.

We will be donating school supplies and backpacks for our Children’s Health Fair on August 16 from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. at Samaritas Community Center. Please donate your school supplies to Samaritas and help a child prepare for school this fall. Serving others can start with a friendly hello and a smile. You can speak a kind word of encouragement to someone that is feeling down, send a card to someone who needs a lift in their spirit, prepare a meal and deliver it, or visit with those at Samaritas Senior Living who need a friend. Let’s come together and make a difference in our community by helping those in need because we serve our God by serving others.
