When City of Farmington Hills Councilwoman, Theresa Rich, approached Mayor Kenneth Massey about Proclaiming May 7th as Michigan Foster Care Awareness Day in the City of Farmington Hills, he immediately said, “Absolutely!”
That’s when we learned that Foster Care and Adoption are VERY personal to Mayor Massey. Having been adopted as an infant, he then grew in his loving “forever family”, who have helped him reach his full potential. (In addition to his various roles as an elected official, Dr. Massey is also the Sr. Director of Venture Development for the Wayne State University Technology Commercialization Team & Professor of Pharmacology.)
For as long as he can remember, Mayor Massey’s parents told him about the amazing letter that came with baby Kenneth from his foster mother, including “He loves LOTS of big, wet kisses and to rock himself to sleep.”
We are grateful to Councilwoman Rich, and to Mayor Massey for their outstanding support of May 7th as Michigan Foster Care Awareness Day in the City of Farmington Hills, and highlighting the heroes who open their hearts and homes to children in need of foster care – and adoption!
