Thousands of unaccompanied children are coming to the United States from Central America to reunite with family members or escape violence, war and poverty in their home countries. The wake of the COVID-19 pandemic has spurred more migration from this region recently, and many of these children are being held in jail-like detention centers because of tremendous overcrowding. During Refugee Awareness Week from June 13 - 19, Samaritas will honor the contributions of refugees with the launch of our 2021 online art show titled, “Written Dreams in Paper/Suenos Escritos en Papel” presented by DTE Energy and Delta Dental of Michigan. 100% of the proceeds from this show go to support refugees in our care. By giving to Samaritas today, you can help refugees, like an unaccompanied child, be reunited with their family in Michigan.
